I don't understand why they are giving Toyota such a bad reputation for attempting to manufacture an expensive super car. Let us not forget that Toyota did develop one of the most powerful engines in the world. The 2jz engine put into the Toyota Supra. It's capable of amazing power output in the max range of 1000-1500HP after modifications. Also, what's wrong with Toyota releasing the "LFA" as a Lexus? It is after all the luxury division of Toyota...
So Toyota owns Lexus? I didn't know that. I was thinking patent conflict but not if they own them.
Yes, Toyota and Lexus are the same company. As stated, Lexus is their luxury division. Just like Jaguar's are actually Fords... Never liked Jaguar's by the way... Smile
me niether(sp). though i do think toyota is decent, and i like their idea of making a excesivly over powered car. remindes me of the ond 70's muscule cars.
Thought I would share these few videos of what the 2jz engine in the Toyota Supra is capable of... Smile

wow that pretty awsome, i liked the street one the best, he jsut took off.
I'd drive it. Smile
I can tell you from experience driving the C32 which is a very fast car that supra in the first video was going well over 150MPH by the time he let of the throttle. I assume it was in the 800 horsepower range. I found it funny how they were saying "lag" meaning turbo lag. He was just riding a high gear thinking the vehicle behind was a cop. There was maybe one second of turbo spool when he took off! Smile
What is that in english?
There are two types of forced induction for engines. Forced induction means that the air used for combustion within the cylinder chambers is compressed. There is a supercharger which runs off the belt system, and there is turbocharger that runs off the exhaust pressure. In most cases a supercharger can produce high boost throughout the entire RPM range, so there is no noticeable lag. However, a turbo must first spool up to rotor speeds capable of compressing the air, so there is a moment of "lag" where the turbo isn't compressing air because there isn't enough exhaust pressure. Is that what you were wondering?
Must be. Thanks. I don't speak car too well. I'll stick with computers.Tongue

just another video to show that toyota is still a force in engine composition...
This is a Scion Xb (Scion is a more recent toyota offbranch than lexus) running all motor mid 9 second range at over 140 mph its not the 2jz supra run time in GT4AWD's video but its still a good time for all motor
not to mention scott kelly has almost a 0.1 sec reaction time Smile

There were a few models of Lexus included in the massive Toyota recall for the defective accelerators.

Hell, I believe Ford owns Jaguar, if memory serves me correctly.
They do.

I'm not much of a Jaguar fan either but I'd drive one if someone gave me one.
Ha! I'm sorry GT4AWD, I didn't even see that comment.

I love me a 2006 Jaguar XK! My friends dad has a '69 Jaguar. There is a metal stamp next to the gear shift that reads "At speeds above 120mph, roll up the windows". That's when you know a car is bonafide "bad ass".
I should probably clarify when I say I'm not that big on Jaguars that I'm going solely on looks considering I've never driven one. Rolleyes

The newer Jaguars don't look too bad to me, but some of the older ones just didn't look good at all IMO.

That's awesome. Sometimes I think the speed limits are too low on interstates (most in VA are 65 or 70 at the max), but then I look at the idiots out there driving and I think they're too high. Undecided
