Since there are some PHP developers here, it may be relevant to bring up the discussion of Oracles purchase of Sun Micro systems. For those whom may not be aware, Sun Micro Systems had recently purchased had not to recently aqquired MySql. Then, in an interesting move, Oracle, an already astablished giant in the database world, purchased the struggling Sun Micro Systems.

I plan on continuing to use my free versions of the MySql database, but as for future software development, & future in house projects & products, I'm not certain if I should continue using the pre-existing MySql databases, or look towards the future for another solution.

Your thoughts?
That doesn't sound good as oracle is one of the more expensive database systems where as MySql is free, open source, and widely used on the net. I wonder if Oracle will shut MySql down.
