So a customer comes in today to pick up his laptop & he's holding a (wireless version of the above) LinkSys / Cisco Gigabit ethernet switch, & before he even says a word I ask "Let me guess, it won't power up..." He's dumbfounded, "How on Earth did you know?!"
We've had a few of these come in, & none of them are more than a year old. The capacitors pop, & that's it. Dead unit. It's an easy fix, but a horrible design
Anyone else have a bad experience with dead network devices like these? Anyone
have one of these?! If so get a backup quick!
Thanks for the info, will have to look out for it
I haven't encountered one of these, but thanks for the info.
Good to know considering I would be buying a LINKSYS router if my old linksys died... I'm really satisfied with their products. Currently using the LINKSYS Wireless-G 2.4GHZ 54MBPS with 4-port switch.

I have to agree.
In the past I had looked into installing
dd-wrt onto routers to offer the ability to setup "hot spots" for local coffee shops, or whoever. The ideal candidate ended up being a Linksys. I've never had trouble with any of their products other than the one listed above.
