has anybody used windows 7 yet?
Yes. Still not enough to decide if I like it over Vista. But I've had it on my computer when it was beta and then rc and now rtm.
I have installed it onto a customers machine & at his request got some software running under VirtualBox.

The OS looks like a vast improvement, but a fresh install usually does Smile
I was using vista on my dell laptop and they have given me free copy of windows 7, Its working quite well for me.
cool what kinda dell laptop do you have
Windows 7 comes with arrays of new features. For Windows 7 support, you can consult a computer repair company. It has many great features, Windows 7 calculator has bigger considerably, now rather than being an arithmetic only affair, it can be operated in four modes Standard, Scientific, Programmer and Statistical.
Well I have not used Windows 7 yet because i am still using Windows XP at my computer which is classic windows operating system in my view . I will try windows 7 very soon .
I switched from xp a long time ago. I use it as little possible and I wish that my work laptop had 7 on it.Sad

I personally recommend that everyone upgrade as long as they have a system that can support it.
I do like Windows 7. XP is good too, but I do prefer 7. It seems to run more smoothly for me.
I personally use Windows 7 and what can I say about it? Well I love it, It's an insane improvement over Vista and Even a small advantage over XP. It doesn't just look good but it uses less system resources than Vista and Xp, It has better security and is alot easier to use. I have a pentium Dual Core T4500 2.3Ghz and windows 7 Idles at 1% CPU Usuage, I also have 3GB DDR3 Ram and Idles at around 6%. thats a hudge boost over Vista (CPU: 15% Ram: 22%) and XP (CPU: 9% Ram: 8%). Those figures are based on clean install with no bloatware and 20 test average, I also benchmark higher in Win7 that Vista and XP. I reckon it's worth the price and I will definetly upgrade to Win8 in 2012
Windows 7 on my new laptop.
Windows XP on my desktop.

I don't know how much I would agree with your logic. Even though they did create Windows 7, their last product was Windows Vista.
What's your point? 7 is what they wanted vista to be however they just couldn't quite get it right in time.

I'm not sure that I agree with you on 7 using less ram than xp however I will agree that it uses less than vista.

Yet they forced something out anyways, regardless of whether it was ready.
That's true. I think that they spent so long and so much money on it that they wanted to release something.
Widows Vista was a failure IMO... It would also make me cautious of new version Windows.
I don't think that it's a failure. I've been using it as my primary on my pc for a few years with no problems. I've heard it referred to as the modern day ME and I don't agree with that. I do agree that it needed improvements which is what they did with 7.

The way I see a new OS release is that unless I desperately need a new computer, I'll wait until other people try it out and point out any/all of the bugs so that they can be fixed. Then, once the complaints stop (if applicable), I'll think about it. That would keep me from having to deal with driver problems, etc. I enjoy working on other computers, but I hate working on my own.

BINGO!!! As do I. And for some reason I do better working on other's. Strange how that works out.Undecided
I think we get so used to our own computers and their nuances that we can't really approach it with an open mind. Also, if something messes up, it's probably going to be something that we didn't know about to prevent, thus it will be harder for us to find or fix.
