I have a windows XP on my desktop machine, Now I want to install windows 98. Is it possible to install without formatting it?
Seriously, a reinstall would be the easiest way. Another option is to install it onto a virtual machine such as Virtual Box, VMWare, or Virtual Machine. For VMWare there is a free "player" that won't allow you to create a virtual machine; you'll have to download a trial of the workstation first. The other 2 are free. Virtual machines simulate a computer for an operating system that runs, like a program, on your real system. That would probably be best because if you try to put it on your computer depending upon how old it is you might have driver issues. Just curious, why do you want to install 98?
You can install Windows XP 98 without formatting, Install each OS on altered volumes or drives in computer. Windows 98 and XP can alone be installed on the boot volume. Multiple Boot Systems are acclimated to access the security of the system in business firms.
Are you upgrading your OS from winxp to win98?
Why not you format and install a fresh win98 installation without upgrading.
That would be a downgrade and considering that they are completely different system you'd have to do a fresh install.
