I had noticed in the last few days that when I was looking at something, it would occasionally automatically scroll to the end of the window, text box, or what have you. For example, when I would try to write a post, I coudln't go back to edit a section without having to backspace back to the point of the error! Editing code that way was impossible.

I had noticed it from the time I got my new laptop, which runs Windows 7. I first encountered the problem when I was writing a facebook message to my friend, and I couldn't edit my message. I attributed the error to Facebook messing up as usual.

However, today the problem fully rose to the surface, and I could barely do anything with my computer. It would send me to look at the bottom of every website, at the last item in any list of files, and to the file at the far bottom-right of my desktop. This problem was getting to be more than an irritating nusiance.

My first instinct was to hit restart to reload the operating system, the drivers, and everything else. I did, but the problem persisted. By this time I was rather ticked. Off to Google I went.

I searched on Google for "laptop auto scrolls down", and immediately found the source of my problem. Of course when I got my new laptop home, I didn't want to have anything to do with installing drivers, if I didn't have to. So I just grabbed my USB mouse and plugged it in, and it worked fine. I never got around to installing the drivers, and the end result was a computer that sent me to the bottom of every scrollable collection of items or page. Just letting XP install the drivers it wanted worked fine on my old computer, but Windows 7 did not play nice with my mouse.

All I had to do to fix the problem was download the proper drivers from the Logitech website, then install them. With a messed-up mouse (the problem affected the touchpad too), this process is easier said than done. In the end, I got them installed and working. For now.
You reinstalled windows over that?[Image: blink.gif] There where so many other wonderful trouble shooting techniques you could have done first which you ended up having to do anyway.[Image: smack.gif]None the less congrats on fixing the problem.

I try to do my best to avoid reinstalling windows and prefer to make that a last last resort "fix." Under the most dire of circustances (such as this) would I reinstall very early on. Actually even then I wouldn't do a reinstall but I would first try a repair.
No, I didn't reinstall windows. I think you took "My first instinct was to hit restart to reload the operating system, the drivers, and everything else" wrong. I restarted the computer to reload the drivers and everything else. All I did was rebooted the computer. I didn't reinstall anything except for the mouse software and the driver.
Ahhh. Yeah I did misunderstand you.
that's why i never save anything in drive C , when there is time to re-install the window Big Grin
thanks i m going to re-install the window now Big Grin
