Which smartphone should I choose?
My family's contract with Verizon is about to expire and I would like to finally get a smartphone. We will stick with Verizon (I'm assuming), so which phone would you suggest? I've had my eyes on the Droids, so I'm looking at the Droid 4.
Is there anything in particular I need to keep in mind while picking a smartphone? |

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
I've read through this list on this website and say it's pretty accurate however in my opinion the RAZR MAXX should be 2 and the nexus 3 just because ive dealt with a nexus and the features it has compare with the MAXX with half the battery life. And yes there is an iphone on the list and as much as id hate to say it it does belong there :/
Heres the link to the top 5 verizon smart phones: http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/collectio...hones.html Now keep in mind this is a top 5 list if u give me more info on wat u plan on using the phone most for I'd be able to choose a more suitable choice and narrow it down |

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
Well mainly I would like to use the phone for Googling things, email, checking on Technofyed, and other web-related things. I do like the looks of the MAXX though from what you posted.
By the way, I have ruled out the iPhone as I would like to develop Android apps. Granted I'll be learning some Objective C in courses over the next 2 years of school, but I'd rather work with Android. |

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
The MAXX is a good choice for u then it has strong processing power for fast page loading and the best battery life on market. I didn't want to have to put the iPhone in the list but I do have to give credit where credit is due among top phones. It is a good thing you like the MAXX since ur going to be developing for android because it is the flagship android phone for Verizon meaning it will stay up to date the latest android software meaning u can keep testing ur development on the latest

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
Is there anything in particular you like about it? Maybe something that you like over a Droid you've seen, for instance?

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
Well I haven't looked at a droid. I went straight from an iPod Touch to my iPhone.

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
I've ordered a Droid RAZR MAXX! It was super expensive, but I imagine it will be well worth the cost. It is supposed to arrive in 3 business days, so I'm expecting the phone to arrive on Monday.
I'll give you an update on the phone once it arrives. |

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
You're right; there is an update available. I'll make sure to update it soon. I've been getting all of my email accounts and other accounts like Facebook set up. I've also just been trying to get used to having internet access on my phone.
Btw, Swype is really cool. |

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
I knew it would need an update I actually think you get ICS android 4.xx software. First app recommendation is GoSMS Pro there's a paid version and a free version, but the stock messaging app is pretty lame on most androids

You will want to keep it updated. How much did it cost?

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
I think you edited your post with "How much did it cost?", as I don't remember seeing it.
After taxes, the phone was $329. Without a 2-year agreement, the phone would have cost $650. I did get insurance for the phone, as I'm not going to pay $650 to replace it if anything goes wrong. I wrote a review for the phone on my blog. ![]() http://www.rwenger.com/motorola-droid-ra...te-review/ |

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
I use HTC and Android and I love it. Never had any problems with it.
I have never tried Apple stuff but one complaint is that you can only always use the same size icons on their screens. Nothing seems to ever change much when they bring out a new Iphone according to some people who have them. |

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
Glad you ruled out the Iphone. Got the 4S for my girlfriend, and I've found it to be extremely restricted in use, and with multiple annoyances as far as everyday use...

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
I bought an iPhone 4, but I don't use the phone service. I installed Media5 VOIP app & use it over wiki at my shop as a 2nd extension. Seems to work ok.

Do you have a contract with a wireless provider to make that work?

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
The VOIP service works over ethernet wifi. The application works on the subnet, & the service logs in over the SIP account.

RE: Which smartphone should I choose?
Hi,
I have a Nokia Lumia 710 and really like the phone and the Windows Phone 7 OS as well. I am also trying to develop an own app for it. (in case some of you are interested in app development I found a good guide about this topic: http://www.voip-sip-sdk.com/p_511-window...oip.html). I have seen that Rwenger ordered the Droid RAZR MAXX and likes it. I have also seen that nobody mentioned this Phone/OS so do you have any opinon about Windows 7 or Windows Phone 8 OS phones? Personally I am really looking forwared to the Nokia Lumia 820 or 920 with Windows Phone 8 OS. |
