Weird packet sniffing anomaly

i have a laptop sniffing packets on both my routers. (yes i have two, one for its N capability and one because its part of the dsl modem)...

so even though i never have anything connected to the airport express (n) router, it puts out more packets for my gkismet software.
while the one i have everything connected to (inluding two 24/7 computers wirelessly connected), has LESS packets.

how is that?

I'm not understanding what you are stating is going on.

Both routers have their own external routable ip address? Or is one being routed through the other ones subnet? That would double the outbound traffic, because for every packet sent out from one, the other is going to route those packets to the modem.

Can you provide the subnet masks & internal ip addresses for the two routers so I can better understand your setup? Also please note how you are testing the external traffic, meaning are they both attached to a routable ip address, or are you testing them one at a time?

So basically you want an answer for a network setup that you can't describe.

You might be better off contacting the suggested support of the software developers. They will be able to analyze the output more precisely. I have no idea how you setup the network to come up with these results, so I can only speculate.
