How to enable tethering for the Droid 2
My girlfriend has the Droid 2 through Verizon and on our trip out of town found out it doesn't support tethering. There's a Verizon tower on the mountain by my Grandpas place, and that is the only service out here. I brought my laptop in hopes of wireless tethering through her phone for internet. There are multiple programs on the android market that enable tethering, but all the free applications required root access to the phones operating system. Something I'm unaware of how to accomplish as I haven't researched it. There were several payed apps that state they enables tethering without root access.
Of course being that my phone supports wireless tethering didn't bother bring the USB cable. Had to pick one up at Wal-mart. Couldn't find any wireless tethering for the Droid 2 that was free or did not require root access. I did find the wired tethering however and it is called PdaNet. This is the process you must follow to tether your phones data network to your computers internet. First download, and install PdaNet on your Droid 2. http://www.junefabrics.com/android/ In my situation the computer side application had to of course be downloaded on the phone and then transferred to the computer for installation. Download and install PdaNet on your computer. On the Droid 2 you must go into settings, applications, and enable USB debugging. Ensure USB cable is connection phone to PC. Start PdaNet on the Droid 2. It will request your to start PC side application. Start PC side, and you're online! Another cool feature with this program is the ability to view and reply to SMS through the PC side application. So although the Droid 2 doesn't initially support tethering it is capable. I was disappointed in the phone because of this, but the free application works great. Google Talk ID: gt4awd@gmail.com My Website - I.D.W. Email: gt4awd [at] lycos [dot] com My YouTube Videos |

That would be good to know if I had an Android. But I like my iPhone.

RE: How to enable tethering for the Droid 2
My new girlfriend (LOL) has the iPhone 4S helped her buy it on V day actually. She is bothered by a lot of issues such as photographs not allowing transfer to a specific folder without remaining in the main reel. Figured out a solution for this. Create personal folder, and throw all photographs in there other than the select few you don't want. That way you're no longer using the main reel for viewing. Siri is annoying as well. Doesn't understand a lot you say, and does web searches constantly due to not knowing an answer. The commercials make it seem a lot more efficient than it is... As far as tethering, and specific settings like that having had much luck. The iPhone in general seems very limited...

RE: How to enable tethering for the Droid 2
I agree Siri seems to be more like a quick browser search the same way the Google voice search is on android other then the IO style voice command apple made it out to be....I prefer android platform because there is a lot more that can be done with it being as it's open source and they actually encourage rooting where with apple everything must be approved and signed by apples code
