Compliment of the season,

May I start by introducing myself to you; I am Mr. Joseph De-graft, the personal assistant to her Excellency Mrs. Dr Oteng Adjei (The former Minister for petroleum) Ghana. The minister served for the present regime throughout the first four years as the minister but was removed some months into the second term of the present government in power. My main reason for this email is to Solicit for a foreign expatriate to stand as beneficiary for a substantial amount of money which is in a bank here in Ghana. The fund was realized through some underground deals carried out during the minister's period in service.

I can confidently confess to you that during the minister's tenure on the seat a substantial amount of $19 Million US Dollars were realized and it was kept in a bank here in Ghana. But recently, a committee/panel was setup to investigate the activities of the minister during her tenure in the office, I can tell you that all the deals were carried out without the knowledge of the government so my boss in the person of Mrs. Dr Oteng Adjei feels she need to transfer the fund out of the bank so as to cover up some vital issues which might be generated if this money is located.

All we need is just for you to stand as the beneficiary to the fund and all the necessary document would be forwarded to you but first we need your approval to prove that you are willing to help and all you need to do is to send your full name, and contact phone number back in your response for immediate talk on this issues as this money is staying too long over there in the bank. We have the ability to transfer the entire funds out of the bank to any valid foreign account you will be nominating.

Moreover, this operation will be carried in a wholesome approach which is practically safe from any violation of law. You will be compensated with 30% of the funds that would be transferred into your bank account.
I was thinking that bringing this back could be a fun idea. Maybe something seasonal ( Winter event, Spring event, etc. ) or annual ( Technofyed Day if you'd like ) would be nice.

Any one else up for putting something like this together in the future?

CNET published a post this morning that claims that the FBI is trying to work with top internet companies to amend a law which would force those companies to provide the FBI backdoor access to their services. The move would counter the FBI's decreasing ability to track communications since email, Facebook, Twitter, and even gaming platforms like Xbox Live have become popular.

"If you create a service, product, or app that allows a user to communicate, you get the privilege of adding that extra coding," an industry representative who has reviewed the FBI's draft legislation told CNET. The requirements apply only if a threshold of a certain number of users is exceeded, according to a second industry representative briefed on it.
The FBI's proposal would amend a 1994 law, called the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, or CALEA, that currently applies only to telecommunications providers, not Web companies. The Federal Communications Commission extended CALEA in 2004 to apply to broadband networks.

What do you think? I'm not exactly a fan, although I think it depends how they propose to implement such changes.

Nintendo Wii Drive Replacement

This is my walk through for replacing the Drive on a Nintendo Wii. Total repair time should be less than 30 minutes, & around 10 minutes after you have done a few of them.

Some of these photos will be updated, so feel free to check back :

Step one, remove the 2 port covers.

While we are here we can remove the three black phillips screws. The two along the left are the same, & the one to the right which holds down the face place is slightly larger than the other two. Set these aside once removed.

Next flip the Nintendo Wii with the feet side up (port side down).

We are going to remove the screw which holds down the battery on the bottom left, all three sticker screw covers, & the foot in the upper left.

When completed, you should see the following :

You should sort the screws as you remove them. On this side you will remove the following :

2 silver phillips screws across the top
2 silver tri-wing screws across the bottom
1 black mini phillips screw in the upper left. This screw holds down the front faceplate.

With the above screws removed, you should have the following :

Now lets flip the unit over, top down, feet up :

There are two stickers to remove for the faceplate screws, & two feet on the bottom. As per the following photo, the stickers are on the far left, & the feet are on the far right. There is no need to remove the other two feet.

Under the stickers are two black tri-wing screws. These are larger than the ones removed from the sides. Under the feet are two silver tri-wing screws & they are the same as the ones used in the side. After these are removed & set aside, you should see the following :

With both of the black phillips screws from the side removed, & the two tri-wing screws from the bottom removed, we can now pull the face plate off. Pull only slightly as there is a ribbon for the led as seen below :

With the faceplate completely removed, we can now pull off the black surround for the game ports.

Under the black surround, just like the previous side, we have 2 silver phillips screws along the top, & 2 silver tri-wing screws along the bottom.

Now with all screws removed, we can pull off the outer shell.

Next, hold firmly the bottom, & pull the silver shield off the drive.

There are four screws that hold the drive in place. Two (in the back) are easily viewable, & the other two will need to be removed from within the drive. From top down, these are found in the front next to where the faceplate sits. Once all four of these are out, the drive can be carefully pulled out. As seen in this photo, the excess cable for the power cable is slid under the bezel. Please be careful when pulling out the old drive, & keep this cable location in mind.

Slide the power cable out & you'll have full range access to unplug it. Once the power is out, flip up the tan flap to pull out the data cable.

Unbox your replacement drive :

You should now have the following screws available :

The back row of four are for the dive, they go inside of the rubber grommets.
The middle row of six are tri-win screws. Two in each side on the bottom of the case, & two in the bottom of the unit.
The middle row of four are phillips screws. Two in each side on the top of the case.
The next two black screws are phillips & are for the side of the front bezel. One on each side.
The next two black screws are tri-wings, & are for the bottom of the front bezel.
The front two black screws are for the side with the black plastic surround for the game ports.

When repeating the assembly process, keep a watchful eye for the following two issues :

#1, the silver shielding goes behind the plastic from the case, but outside of anything metal :

#2, the front bezel plastic goes behind the plastic from the case sides, but outside of anything metal :

The metal holds the receptacle for the screw, & the screw must thread through the plastic holes.

Good luck, & feel free to follow up with any questions.

For the past few months I've been complaining that my laptop has gotten really slow for some reason. I had never had a computer do that to me (without a good reason) before, so I was really confused as to why. It turned out that I had done something really stupid: while cutting down the number of services running on startup, I had disabled some services necessary for the Disk Defragmenter... I had assumed the defragmenter was working properly as it is supposed to automatically run in the background on Windows 7, but I had messed it up. As you might imagine, approximately a year without defragmentation can really take a toll on a laptop's speed.

The following services are necessary for the disk defragmenter to run under Windows 7:

Task Scheduler

Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

DCOM Server Process Launcher

RPC Endpoint Mapper

Windows Event Log
To enable or disable services, just type "Services" in the Windows 7 start menu search.

This week was not too bad, but as always seemed to drag out for the three days. Time goes by quick while you're working, but the days seem long. As far as percentage I did 125% on Saturday, 151% on Sunday, and 118% on Monday. The 151% is fastest I've done so far! Previous was 145%. The two highest do not include any downtime to raise % which I actually did have some, and could have applied. 118% this Monday because I only had 2 hours sleep! For the week though that averages out to 131% which gives me full incentive...

For the past three weeks I've been in high velocity. That is two aisles which contain paper towels, napkins, paper plates, toilet paper, and diapers. The trips are a lot shorter time, and more demanding pace than normal trips. However, the day seems to go by faster working in these aisles as you do many trips. I do like that it's a plus for sure. There's negative involved though. You have to move a lot faster to pull high. The pallet stacks are up to 10ft high. Sometimes you'll pull a box and it causes the rest of stack to fall. Got pinned to my pallet last week when the top row fell and hit me...

Still working the order filling job although I hope to have opportunities coming up soon for other positions. Next two weeks I'll be going in on Wednesday as well for testing phase of weekday second shift. The purpose is to lighten the hours of weekday order filling shifts by cutting some volume over to a team that comes in later in the day. That way there's no overtime involved as weekday shift works four days and can easily average over 40 hours a week on high volume times.

 1st.jpg (Size: 88.63 KB / Downloads: 0)
Usually when i get a new phone i look around the web for a guide to replace the lcd just incase i ever need to...well, after much searching, i never found a guide for the LG Nitro it must just not be as popular a phone as i thought. So i used my own Nitro to make a guide to replacing the LCD screen...

 2nd.jpg (Size: 39.93 KB / Downloads: 1)
The easiest way i found to get the back off of the phone is start at the mouth receiver using a finger nail move around both sides popping the tabs out...then kinda jiggle the top off...

 3rd.jpg (Size: 186.97 KB / Downloads: 5)
Remove all 9 screws highlighted by the red "O"
The piece highlighted yellow is a plastic cover you need to remove first best pop the bottom up like you did the back of the phone and slide it down comes off easy goes back hard

 4th.jpg (Size: 33.4 KB / Downloads: 2)
this is wat the piece should look like wen you get it off...

 5th.jpg (Size: 119.45 KB / Downloads: 1)
The area highlighted the yellow/green color is another plastic cover the needs to be removed. I started at the bottom left side of the phone and again wen around it with my thumb nail to pop the tabs...there may come a point you may have to apply a little bit of force to pull the tabs
CAUTION while trying to remove this piece the LDC tries to come up due to a little adhesive holding the piece down you do not want that to bend too much
Also be cautious of the volume and power buttons as they WILL fall out and you WILL lose them (like i did for hours) if you dont mind them..below is wat they look like...

CONTINUED...

 6th.jpg (Size: 30 KB / Downloads: 2)

You now will be able to see the control board....Fun Fact there are extra antenna plugins aswell as an extra ribbon plugin....wonder Y?
Next step is to unplug all the ribbon cables highlighted in yellow as well as the wifi antenna, not all the ribbons need to be unplugged just the highlighted
After (not before) you unplug the cables remove the four screws highlighted by the "O"

 7th.jpg (Size: 123.93 KB / Downloads: 2)
The camera (center) and headphone jack (bottom left) can be easily removed
just by pulling them out...below is wat they look like...

 8th.jpg (Size: 33.31 KB / Downloads: 0)

 9th.jpg (Size: 23.4 KB / Downloads: 0)
Next removing the Control Board u may have trouble getting it lose from the touch screen around the area pointed to be the orange arrow aswell keep an eye on the touch screen ribbon as it is very flimsy pointed to by the green arrow

 10th.jpg (Size: 204.75 KB / Downloads: 2)

 11th.jpg (Size: 114.98 KB / Downloads: 3)
Now to remove the touch screen to access the LCD...bend back the ight blue highlighted ribbon and seperate the two pieces that are the touch screen and the plastic piece holding the LCD and digitizer
Highlighted in red is a small rubber piece holding the touch screen ribbon down...below is a picture of the peice

 12th.jpg (Size: 20.01 KB / Downloads: 1)
Here is a pic of the touch screen removed...

 13th.jpg (Size: 78.86 KB / Downloads: 1)

CAUTION THE LCD ISNT HELD IN VERY GOOD SO WATCH OUT FOR IT TO FALL OUT OF THE DIGITIZER WHERE ITS HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW

 14th.jpg (Size: 138.43 KB / Downloads: 2)

 last.jpg (Size: 192.06 KB / Downloads: 2)
Highlighted here in yellow is the ribbon to the LCD starting where the connecter is to the ribbon peal off all of the highlighted area
Careful here is where the ribbon is bent so dont peal to fast of it could rip
Remove the black square holding down the ribbon and pull the ribbon through the slot to the side where the LCD is and it should come right out of the digitizer...(I dont have a pic of the one but its pretty obvious at this point wat to do)

I hope this helps somone like me that just couldnt find the answer they were looking for....good day!

Today my wireless mouse for my work laptop stopped working and the receiver gets really hot. I've already called Microsoft and they'll be replacing something (probably the receiver) but does anybody know what's wrong? I've never had this happen before. It's 1.5 years old. I have verified that also it doesn't work and gets hot on my desktop. Very strange.
